One speaker at an event i attended said with $2 million he could comfortably stop working. I was like, okay, maybe that’s something I can aim for.
Anyways, this month has been a lot but also full of so much activity and to be honest, I love it for me and whatever future has in store.
With that said welcome to this week’s edition of The One Thing Newsletter where I don’t have it all figured out but I still share One Thing I’m Doing, One Thing I’m Learning and One Thing You Should Try.
Let’s go.
One Thing I’m Doing
I’ve been investing so much into my finances and capacity building lately. These days my mind is just screaming mehnnn I need to make money and build portfolios (not work application portfolio ooo)!
And I won’t lie, I never thought I could dream as big as this until I stumbled on a Zikoko NairaLife story about a lady who grew her income from like ₦250k to over $5,000 in a couple of years (don’t ask me the exact figures or timeline, me sef I no remember 😹). But mehn, I was shook!
That story lit a fire in my head sha. I started thinking: Okay Loveth, what can you do right now to increase your value? How do you turn what you already have into serious value? It’s been a wild ride in my head but I love it.
Just this few days in August, I attended two finance events and I scribbled down some nuggets (don’t worry if they don’t make sense without context, the sharp ones here will catch it 😏):
Increase your surface area or reduce your desire.
Whenever you are in doubt, always zoom out - look at the overall view
Savings will not save you.
Oh and btw — one speaker said with $2 million he could comfortably stop working. I was like, okay, maybe that’s something I can aim for. Until I did the math for achieving that in two years 😹… Tribersssss, please, I’m taking a chill pill because apparently that means I need to earn ₦12.5 million per month. What in the madness is that? Lool.
One Thing I’m Learning
That I am ENOUGH just as I am.
I don’t talk about this at all but I’ve been insecure about my weight gain lately. I hate when people comment on it like “you’ve added weight,” “you’re pumped up,” all those remarks. I just smile and move on because honestly, they’re not lying and I already know thissss!!! 😹.
Until recently, someone sent me old pictures of myself looking way slimmer. And you know what? Even back then, I still got comments like “You’ve added weight ooo.” Back then, I guess i didn’t appreciate my body either too because there was always something “off” in my eyes: my legs, my stomach, my face, my hands… something was always “off.”
Looking back, I’ve decided I won’t repeat that cycle. Whether I lose the weight sooner or not, I’m going to cherish the body I have now. I’ll figure out what outfits make this body shine and rock it. Because yo, right now, this is ME and I’m thickkk and worth cherishing.
So yes, regardless of whatever decisions I make in the future, at this moment, Loveth is ENOUGH.
One Thing You Should Try
Ask yourself: Would you stop working if you had $2 million?
Really think about it, not just the “yes, abeg!” we all shout when we’re tired on a Monday morning 😹. I mean… if that money dropped in your account today, no strings attached, what would your life look like?
Would you travel? Start that business you’ve been side-eyeing? Sleep for six months straight? Or would you still want to work but on your own terms?
When I actually sat down to do the math (because curiosity will not kill me), I realized that for me, the number isn’t just about “freedom from work.” It’s about freedom from certain kinds of work, the stressful, life-squeezing kind. I still want to create, learn and build, but in a way that feels aligned with who I am.
So here’s my challenge to you: spend a little time this week picturing your “$2 million life.” Not just the Instagram version only though but the quiet, day-to-day version.
What would it look like? How would you spend your days? And most importantly… why wait until you have the money before you start building pieces of that life now?
What about you?
What’s One Thing you’re doing, learning, or suggest i should try?
Reply — I actually read them.
With love and light always,
Akodu Loveth — That Tech Babe™

What a beautiful write up.
To me if I hate $2 million 💵 today, I won't stop working but I will reduce the level of work and invest more
